I think there is little doubt that the unfortunate

man fainted and was drowned before he regained consciousness. Had there been any struge or had he shouted he was almost certain to have been seen or heard. There was apparently

no question of cramp. The deceased was lying on his back at the bottom of the water in a naturel position,

It might perhaps be comforting to his relatives to know that Mr. Duckworth was thought well of by his superiors, and war very popular with his friends and brother
